25th anniversary

25 Years of Industry-Leading Innovation

By: Morgan Williams, Marketing Specialist, Westfalia Technologies, Inc.

In 1992, Dan Labell, president and owner of Westfalia Technologies, Inc. brought his warehouse automation expertise to York, PA. After finishing graduate school, Labell harnessed his experience of working for Westfalia Germany; a company started by his uncle, and started Westfalia Technologies, Inc.

In 1993, Westfalia USA was awarded its first automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) contract by Firmenich and has not looked back. The company has helped companies across a variety of industries with their warehousing needs, such as: Grifols (pharmaceuticals), Break-Thru Beverage (beverage), and McKee Foods (food).

Once established as a player in the automation industry, Westfalia developed a unique warehouse execution system (WES) software, known as Savanna.NET®. Since developing this product, many customers chosen to Savanna.NET to manage the automated and conventional aspects of their warehouses.

2017 marks Westfalia’s 25th year of operation and the company mission still rings true. Striving to deliver unparalleled warehousing solutions by earning the trust of customers, understanding their business needs, and honoring commitments, Westfalia set forth on a journey to set the standard for sustainable, high-quality warehouse automation. Over the past 25 years, Labell has not only spearheaded a team that has grown to over 100 dedicated employees, but has grown a customer-centric culture. Above all, Westfalia is committed to providing top-notch service and support to our customers.

Looking back over the years, Labell is most proud of how the company and its employees have persevered through challenges that have presented themselves. “Growing a business comes with its challenges, and we have seen our fair share. I will always remember how we were able to triumph over these challenges to become the successful business we are today,” says Labell.

In their 25th year, Westfalia continues to receive recognition from the automation industry and grow into a dominant force in warehouse automation. Last year, when asked what was in store for Westfalia, Labell proudly announced that the goal was, “to dominate the niche we are in and grow into new markets with our technology.” And his words have proven to be true as Westfalia continues to experience success.

As a critical part of its success, Westfalia has been able to develop a unique culture that keeps employees happy. From yearly events such as Employee Appreciation Day and holiday celebrations to Lunch 'N Learns and heritage days, Westfalia strives to ensure that their employees are happy at work. Westfalia’s dedication to bettering employees through wellness incentive programs and their dedication to the world around them through charitable events, such as clothing and food drives, show that they are a business with an interest in bettering the world.

Looking to the future, Westfalia sees continued innovation and R&D with warehousing solutions, as well as an expansion of technology into recently revamped automated parking solutions, which utilize patented Satellite® technology to automate parking garages. Recently, Westfalia Parking Solutions launched a new website showcasing our new line of palletless parking systems to North America. This technology has already garnered business for Westfalia, with two projects scheduled for completion in 2017.

Celebrating our 25th anniversary is quite an accomplishment, but what is even more exciting is the future for our company that consists of growth and continuous innovation.

Join us as we celebrate 25 years of excellence and prepare for the next 25!
