The start of the school year is right around the corner and that means we have to say goodbye to a few team members here at Westfalia. This year, we had a talented group of college students spend their summer with us as interns in various departments. Get to know a little bit about each of them and what pieces of advice they will be taking with them back to school.

Jen Seabra – HR/Purchasing/Finance

Jen will be entering her junior year at the University of Maryland, College Park where she is double majoring in Marketing and Management. This summer she split her time at Westfalia working primarily with our HR Generalist, Chelsea Anstine and Purchasing Manager, Kristen Himes. From her time at Westfalia, Jen has learned that it is important to go into a new job with an open mind because you will not know everything immediately. In her free time, Jen likes to go to the gym, visit the beach, and play volleyball. While Jen is still exploring various areas of business, she hopes to ultimately land a job in sports marketing with a major league team in the future!

Megan Hyman – Marketing

Megan is a rising senior at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania pursuing a degree in Marketing with a minor in Economics. For the past few months she has been working alongside Westfalia’s Marketing Specialist, Morgan Williams and Marketing Coordinator, Robert Sushinski. She has learned that an internship experience is what you make of it, so it is important to be proactive. When she is not at Westfalia, she enjoys activities like hiking, running, and kayaking. After graduation, Megan is interested in pursuing a career in digital marketing. We know Megan has a bright future ahead of her!

Collin Aughey – Shop

Collin is entering his second year at Penn Tech to pursue Welding. This summer, he worked in our shop alongside Ken Sheely, shop foreman. By working at Westfalia, Collin has learned how to bend metal – a skill he is very excited to have. He hopes to eventually own his own machine shop. While he is not diligently working in our shop, Collin enjoys hunting and fishing. Fortunately, we will be seeing a lot more of Collin as he will be joining us as a full-time employee!

Lauren Labell - Software

Lauren will be entering her sophomore year at Tufts University. Although she has not declared an “official” major yet, she has enjoyed working in our software department this summer alongside Westfalia’s Senior Software Developer, Joshua Starner. Lauren came to Westfalia with minimal software experience, but she is quickly putting the pieces together and sees potential for a career in this field. In her time off, she is very active, participating in activities such as swimming and hiking. In addition, Lauren has developed a passion for cooking. We have enjoyed seeing Lauren around our office and know that she will go on to do great things!

Jessie Furie – Mechanical Engineering

Jessie is entering her junior year at York College of Pennsylvania where she is majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Management. She has spent her summer interning with our mechanical engineering department. Through this experience, she has realized that tasks are often much harder at first glance but cooperating and working well with others helps tremendously when you are learning a new skill. Aside from academics, Jessie enjoys playing ultimate frisbee. After graduation, Jessie would like to get a job in project management. We can’t wait to see what the future has in store for Jessie!
