AS/RS by Storage Density
Multiple-Deep Automated Storage
Designing high density AS/RS to fit a client's mix of fast to slow moving products is nothing new to Westfalia. Our expertise in combining single-deep or double-deep AS/RS storage lanes with multiple deep configurations -- in the same aisle and using the same S/RM -- are unique to the storage industry.
Westfalia's Multiple-Deep Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems are the most environmentally friendly warehouse designs. Our designs have the ability store pallets or containers up to 12 deep, which translates into a smaller building footprint, and in turn has less impact on the surrounding environment. Westfalia's patented Satellite® transport technology (rack entry vehicle) enables these Multiple Deep AS/RS configurations.
Multiple-deep storage systems retrieve loads from either side of any Storage/ Retrieval Machine (S/RM) aisle in a high density storage configuration (2 to 12 deep). It is beneficial for businesses handling a low to medium range of stock keep units (SKUs) where inventory levels per SKU are higher, (i.e. >10 pallets per SKU). Multiple Deep AS/RS is a superior system when combining reserve storage and order picking requirements.
Flexible AS/RS Configurations: |
Key Benefits of High Density AS/RS:
- Ability to store 2 to 12 pallets deep without numerous aisles allows planners to use land and space more effectively = a smaller building footprint = less impact to the environment AND construction cost savings
- Energy savings - a taller, more efficient multiple deep warehouse saves up to 30% in cooling costs for refrigerated warehouses, PLUS automated warehouses require less lighting.
- Regenerative braking on our Storage/Retrieval Machines (SRM's) which push energy back to the grid, saving more money and reducing the carbon footprint of the facility.
- Savings generated from increased storage and order picking accuracy, reduced product damage/ waste costs
- Reduced labor costs
Key Features:
- Best use of space in relation to storage capacity
- More economical as number of aisles is now throughput dependent, not storage dependent.
- 1, 2 or 3 S/RM’s are often placed in one aisle providing high throughput and redundancy
- Strict adherence to First In/First Out (FIFO) by lane
- Store pallets in any orientation including variation in size and types
- High Density Automatic Storage and Retrieval System with Chain Satellite® for plastic or wooden Pallets
- High Density automated storage and retrieval system with Lift Satellite® for light pallets or paper rolls.
