O-N Minerals PenRoc, LP Selects Westfalia to Provide Palletizing System for Global Stone
Layer Forming Palletizer Case Study

Westfalia Technologies, Inc. has been selected by O-N Minerals PenRoc to provide a layer-forming palletizing system for the company’s limestone processing plant in York, Pa. The company selected the Westfalia Technologies system for its rugged design and its modern, non-pneumatic operation.
O-N Minerals PenRoc wanted a palletizing system to handle 20 bags per minute (BPM) of calcium carbonate in multi-walled paper valve bags. This rate was greater than the previous system could accommodate on a continuous basis. In addition to upgrading the packaging rates, PenRoc wanted a system that would use a minimum of air in its operation due to year-round operations. The Westfalia Technologies model 870 layer-forming palletizing system operates primarily with electrical components that will keep air requirements to a minimum. Only slip sheet dispensing and a gravity air table accumulating conveyor will require pneumatic operation. The gravity air table will have its own air source.
“We needed a reliable system that would both meet our packaging requirements and minimize air flow in the plant,” said William Vest, vice president and general manager of O-N Minerals PenRoc, LP, “and Westfalia provided the best solution. The model 870 palletizer also has a reputation for ruggedness, even in harsh environments.”
The model 870 layer-forming palletizer is built on a heavy-duty structural tube frame and has a standard full pallet weight capacity of 4,000 pounds. It can accommodate most pallet sizes and orientations as well as any bag size or pattern.
