The Beef Industry Invests In An Automated Storage/Retrieval System
AS/RS & WMS Case Studies

BPI

Westfalia Technologies is pleased to announce the ground breaking for a new automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) for Beef Products, Inc.

Westfalia's project scope will include a case conveying system to transport boxes of frozen beef products to the high-rise, automatic palletizing, stretch wrapping, and an automatic print and-apply labeling system. Pallet loads will then be automatically conveyed to the storage/retrieval machines (SRMs) for storage in the high-rise.

System Features:

  • 2 Storage and Retrieval Machines (SRM's)
  • 11,886 pallet positions
  • -10 F
  • Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • Input / output conveyors & palletizing
  • Auto pallet dispenser & stacker

Westfalia's AS/RS includes (2) SRMs and approximately 12,000 pallet rack locations in a 20,022 square foot x 101'-0" high rack supported building.

Customer orders will be automatically retrieved and conveyed to special high-throughput truck-staging lanes so that orders may be staged in advance of shipment. Westfalia's ability of staging truckloads within the high-rise maximizes efficiency of the shipping operation while freeing valuable dock space.

Westfalia's highly automated design eliminates any human contact with the product from case conveying, through palletizing, and to the dock. The only time that there will be human intervention is when pallets are to be removed by forklift when loading trucks for shipment.
