Palletizer and Conveyor Systems Case Study
Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative markets milk for 1,500 dairy farmer/owners throughout the Middle Atlantic and Southeastern U.S. Maryland & Virginia also owns and operates several fluid processing plants, manufacturing and warehouse facilities. Westfalia is in the process of installing a powdered milk palletizer in the manufacturing facility in Laurel, Md. The system features a Fuji EC-101 robotic palletizer, bag handling conveyors, bag flattener, pallet dispenser, slipsheet dispenser, and pallet conveyors.
“The new palletizer will replace the existing system, which was plagued with high maintenance costs and poor pallet stack performance,” says Reichard. “Westfalia was able to provide enough flexibility so that the system can handle both flat and wedge-shaped bags. In addition, the new layout will allow Maryland & Virginia to continue operating an EC-61, purchased from Westfalia three years ago, on their Butter Line in an adjacent part of the facility.
