Software Service Technician

Westfalia Technologies is seeking a Software Service Technician. This is an opportunity to provide on call support to customers by troubleshooting and developing technical solutions related to Warehouse Management Software systems and setup errors. You will create workaround procedures when standard procedures have failed and ensure issues are resolved in a timely fashion. You are expected to escalate urgent problems requiring more in-depth knowledge to appropriate internal resources. This position reports to the Director of Software Development.
Job Duties:
- Provides answers to customers by identifying problems; researching answers; guiding customers through corrective steps.
- Achieves computer system objectives by gathering pertinent data; identifying and evaluating options; recommending a course of action.
- Improves existing programs by reviewing objectives and specifications; evaluating proposed changes; recommending changes; making modifications.
- Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
- Identifies system improvements by evaluating system performance.
- Prepares reference for users by writing operating instructions.
- Maintains historical records by documenting hardware and software changes and revisions.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Technology or related field
- Ability to understand and use complex software packages
- Ability to diagnose log files
- Ability to read and make minor changes to C++, C#, SQL, COM+, ATL, ADO, and MFC (MFC is preferred from the list)
- Minimum of 2 years customer support and software experience
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a software environment.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with MSOffice suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Excellent trouble shooting skills
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
- 30% Travel may be required
- Warehouse experience is a plus
- Spanish or German a plus
