Mechanical Designer

Westfalia Technologies, Inc. is seeking a full-time Mechanical Designer. The position of Mechanical Designer assists with the development of our product line and processes project-specific details. This position will work with mechanical designs, drawings, and bills of materials to support manufacturing of conveyor and/or stainless equipment as a contributing member of the Mechanical Engineering Team. Essential Job Duties:

Assists engineers with design, development, and quality of automated equipment including transfer cars, palletizers, pallet and package conveyors, stainless casers and other material handling automated equipment.

Interfaces with Controls, Project Management, Sales and Purchasing departments to complete equipment design and assist Production.
- Helps to develop standard, configurable equipment for higher volume production and quick turnaround customization.
- Maintains 3D data to produce manufacturing drawings with BOMs, track revisions, record design history and update standards.
- Creates layout/installation drawings for automated material handling systems.
- Provides input in order to improve department and company processes and procedures that control quality and efficiencies.
Required Qualifications:

Ability to work with moderate supervision. A fair degree of creativity and latitude is expected in solving engineering-related issues and details.
- 2 year Mechanical-related degree, such as mechanical drafting or mechanical technologies.
- Two years of experience using SolidWorks as a primary design tool, working with 300-part assemblies.
- Must be knowledgeable in AutoCAD and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Possesses technical zeal and is analytical.
- Ability to communicate using not just drawings, but also written descriptions, pictures or other appropriate means.
Desired Qualifications:

Experience in Pro/E Wildfire and Intralink vault software.

Experience working with machines and power transmission components, including motors, reducers, shafts, chain sprockets, air cylinders, valves and electronic sensors.

Hands-on experience with machining, fabrication or welding production.
Machines/Tools/Equipment:
All computer and networking-related equipment, telephone systems, printers, copiers and calculators are provided to employees for use in performing their necessary tasks.
